Responsibilities
-
Provide medical standby coverage as the primary onsite medical professional for remote and industrial worksites.

Conduct full patient assessments and provide care within the PCP scope, including medication administration, airway management, monitoring, and treatment of medical and traumatic emergencies.

Stabilize and manage patients until transport or higher-level medical care is available, following company protocols and provincial practice guidelines.

Communicate with EMS, medical control (when applicable), supervisors, and client representatives during incidents.

Maintain medical equipment, supplies, and the MTC or ambulance to operational standards.

Complete all patient care documentation, incident reports, and safety reporting accurately and promptly.

Identify and report workplace hazards, contributing to a safe work environment.

Function independently as a lone PCP in remote locations, demonstrating sound clinical judgment and professional decision-making.

Participate in site orientations, safety meetings, and required training or drills.
Qualifications
-
Current Primary Care Paramedic license (ACP in Alberta, EMLAB in British Columbia or provincial equivalent).

Experience working in remote, industrial, or oil and gas environments is an asset.

Strong patient assessment skills, with the ability to manage both minor and serious medical/trauma cases independently.

Confident in functioning as the sole medical provider on site, often in isolated settings.

Able to remain calm, composed, and effective in high-pressure or emergency situations.

Organized, attentive to detail, and diligent with clinical documentation.

Trustworthy, reliable, and forthcoming in all communications.

Comfortable with chain-of-command processes and client-specific protocols.

Physically capable of performing all PCP duties, including equipment handling, prolonged standing, and working in variable weather conditions.
Bonus Qualifications
-
Experience driving 4WD vehicles in remote or rugged terrain.
-
Previous oil and gas experience or familiarity with industrial safety protocols.
-
Additional safety tickets (e.g. Ground Disturbance, Fall Protection, WHMIS).
-
Experience working as part of an emergency response or medical standby team.


Requirements Before Hire / Before Being Allowed on Site
-
Current Primary Care Paramedic License in good standing (with applicable provincial reglulatory body i.e EMLA, College of Paramedics - AB, SK, Etc)
-
Current CPR certification.
-
Common Safety Orientation (CSO).
-
H2S Alive.
-
Valid driver’s license.
-
All licensing and certifications must remain current; expired credentials may result in removal from the roster or dismissal.

There may be additional orientations or training required depending on client or site-specific requirements (e.g. site orientations, security clearances, operator-specific modules).
